Thanks to advances in technology, it’s easier than ever to get access to health care when and where you need it. Telehealth is a convenient option for families with busy lifestyles—emailing the doctor’s office or making a phone call takes far less time than driving across town or waiting in line for a face-to-face appointment.
Here are some time-saving telehealth tips for your ohana:
1. Go mobile.
Log on to your provider or plan’s online portal or mobile app. On kp.org, Kaiser Permanente members can book routine appointments, access their electronic health record, view most test results, refill prescriptions, and get most medications delivered right to their home.
2. Email.
Use Kaiser Permanente’s “email your doctor” feature for non-urgent health questions in order to save yourself a trip to the doctor’s office.
3. Take a selfie.
A “medical selfie” that is. Kaiser Permanente’s online portal allows you to snap a photo if you or your child has a cut, mole, or rash, and attach it directly to your message so your physician can determine whether a follow-up visit is necessary.
4. Get care after hours.
Explore your options for round-the-clock care. Kaiser Permanente’s free 24/7 advice line allows members to speak with a licensed care provider day or night.
