12th Annual Aloha Festivals Keiki Hoolaulea at Pearl Ridge Center

The signature keiki event of Aloha Festivals is themed “Hulu Aloha: Beloved Feather Treasures," offering arts and crafts, demonstrations and live musical entertainment by Hawaii's keiki. There will be a feather-flower making class with Na Lima Mili Hulu Noeau – the late Aunty Mary Lou Kekuewa's own studio – on Saturday, Sept. 12 during event hours. Live entertainment will feature local ukulele sensation Aiden James, steel and slack-key guitar with Alan Akaka's Ke Kula Mele Hawaii, Honoka & Azita and Halau Hula Olana, as well as slam poetry from Kealoha. Experienced craftspeople will guide demonstrations of a variety of traditional Hawaiian activities including the pounding of poi and weaving ti-leaf lei. The Aloha Festivals' Royal Court will make its official appearance on Sept. 12.
