4th Annual Hawaii State Law Enforcement Surfing Classic
For the first time, the Hawaiʻi State Law Enforcement Surfing Classic will welcome law enforcement personnel from around the world to compete in a variety of water sports at Waikīkī Beach. During the first two days of the event, July 11-12, the surfing competition of the United States Police and Fire Championships will be at Queen's Beach. Police and fire personnel will try to make a splash in longboard, shortboard, stand-up paddle board and boogie board divisions.
In days three and four, July 13-14, competitors will form four-person teams from various age groups for competition with various boards. Close to 100 competitors are expected from law enforcement agencies including police, fire, EMS, customs, the Federal Detention Center, military police, lifeguards, and many others as well as first responders’ immediate family members.
All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Hawaiʻi and support its work to provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. To date the event has raised more than $15,000.
