Cinema in the Park at Victoria Ward Park is free and open to the public, showcasing a selection movies curated by the Hawai‘i International Film Festival. Presented on the second Wednesday of every month, people will also have complimentary popcorn, be able to visit food vendors, and do activities. In July, before the full-length feature film, Adrift, there will be a talk-story session with two of the movie's producers, Aaron and Jordan Kandell. Born and raised in Hawai'i, the Kandell brothers were also produced Disneyʻs Moana. Adrift tells the true story of a couple who take off from Tahiti to San Diego, but then run into a hurricane. With their boat damaged, it is up to them to find a way back to land.
Adrift runs one hour and 36 minutes. It is rated PG-13 for items including brief drug use and partial nudity.
Lawn chairs are not allowed. Seats are limited and Ward Village says a ticket does not guarantee a space, which is on a first come, first serve basis. Register on eventbrite.
