An evening with Photographer Daido Moriyama at University of Hawaii

Photographer Daido Moriyama is known for his gritty images depicting postwar Japanese urban life. Moriyama's book Nippon gekijō shashinchō includes a collection of photos showing less well-known parts of Tokyo. Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Tate Museum recently displayed Moriyama's black and white, and color photographs. Locally, the University of Hawaii Art Gallery features his work in a current exhibition Framing Paradise: Photography and Waikiki. Spend an evening with Moriyama on Nov. 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a book signing. The University of Hawaii art gallery is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 28.
