Walk in the shoes of the Japanese in Hawaii in this exhibit at the Japanese Cultural Center. Okage Sama De begins in 1868 with immigrants making the trip from Japan to Hawaii, follows them through their work on the plantations and in shops and then takes you through life as a Japanese during World War II. The exhibit features artifacts, murals, a video with oral testimonies about the experiences of Japanese Americans in Hawaii and more. The exhibit usually costs $3 to $7, but on Second Saturdays, it's free.
Families can wander through on their own, or sign up in advance for a docent-led tour.
