Music from Shakespeare's Time
In celebration of the public display of the 1623 First Folio of Shakespeare's plays at Kapiolani Community College from April 25 to May 25, Ian Capps, president of Early Music Hawaii and creator and host of The Early Muse on Hawaii Public Radio, will discuss music from Shakespeare's time, with recordings. The music will include songs from the plays and dance music from Shakespeare's time. Because composers ever since have been inspired by these songs, some more modern arrangements will also be played.
This one-hour program will be held in the First Floor Reading Room and is suitable for ages 5 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. For more information, call the Library's Art, Music & Recreation Section at 586-3520.
