Immerse yourself in Okinawan culture at the state’s largest ethnic festival. For the first time ever, the two-day festival will be held in the Hawai'i Convention Center. Sample traditional cultural dishes, such as andagi and Okinawa soba, and enjoy live performances by popular entertainers from Okinawa and local groups. Join the annual Bon Dance from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday. The event is keiki- and kūpuna-friendly with accessible parking and bathrooms for strollers, walkers and wheelchairs. Park at the Hawaii Convention Center, or take the round-trip shuttle from McKinley High School.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2.
