On March 2, the third annual HONOLULU Family Fun Run and Keiki Dash, presented by Mobi, will send runners racing through Magic Island. Open to all ages and fitness levels, the timed 5K features a leisurely walk/run course filled with selfie stops, snack stations, entertainment and more to keep your feet moving and your spirits high. If you haven’t signed up yet, here are five reasons why you should lace up your shoes for the HONOLULU Family Fun Run.
1. It’s an opportunity to spend quality time as a family.

Families that play together, stay together. From pre-race training to crossing the finish line on race day, this is a creative way for the whole family to get fit while having fun. Want to help your little one get into 5K shape? Use this guide for some tips to help your kids prep for a successful run.
Keiki ages 3 to 10 can also register to participate in a 500-meter dash, with a special HONOLULU Family Fun Run medal for every finisher to take home.
2. Use it to get closer to your fitness goals.

Prepping for the Honolulu Marathon? On your school’s track and field team? Or, just want to get your heart health up? This timed 5K isn’t just for families—use it to train, challenge yourself and get one step closer to your fitness goals.
3. Keep the fun going at The Keiki Fun Zone.

The Keiki Fun Zone opens at 7 a.m. with a photo booth by Mobi, balloon animals, face painting and more. Your little ones can show off their best moves with a silent disco from Hawai‘i Dance Bomb, practice drills with i9 Sports and, starting from 8 a.m., snap a photo with Ariel and Captain America from Storybook Entertainment.
4. The prizes!

If that runner’s high isn’t enough motivation, this might: The top three male and female finishers will each receive a special prize:
- 1st Place (one male, one female): iPhone Xs Max
- 2nd Place (one male, one female): iPad Pro 11-inch
- 3rd Place (one male, one female): Apple Watch Series 3
5. It’s for a great cause.
A portion of proceeds will benefit two local nonprofits: Kaho‘omiki, which inspires kama‘āina to embrace healthy lifestyles through signature events, programming and capacity-building initiatives, and the Hawai‘i Afterschool Alliance, which is dedicated to sustaining quality afterschool programs that support academic, social, emotional and physical outcomes of Hawai‘i’s keiki.
