Which colleges are the most popular among Hawaii high school students?
The list is interesting, according to a report published this year by Michael Weddington, a doctoral student at the University of Northern Colorado and a former counselor at St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School on Maui.
To better understand the college-application process, Weddington asked 50 counselors from public and private high schools in Hawaii the following question: “Which four-year colleges and universities do your students express the most interest in attending?”
Here are the top 30 schools, based on counselors' responses:
1) University of Hawaii at Manoa 2) University of Hawaii at Hilo 3) Creighton University (Nebraska) 4) University of Oregon 5) University of Portland (Oregon) 6) Seattle University (Washington) 7) University of Washington 8) University of Southern California 9) Hawaii Pacific University 10) Pacific University of Oregon 11) University of Nevada Las Vegas 12) University of Hawaii – West Oahu 13) Colorado State University Fort Collins 14) University of San Francisco 15) Kapiolani Community College 16) Oregon State University 17) Santa Clara University (California) 18) University of Hawaii Maui College 19) Chapman University (California) 20) Hawaii Community College 21) Loyola Marymount (California) 22) Stanford University (California) 23) University of California at Berkeley 24) University of California at Los Angeles 25) University of Puget Sound (Washington) 26) Boston University (Massachusetts) 27) Brigham Young University (Utah) 28) California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo 29) California State University System 30) Chaminade University (Hawaii)
